I woke up today to the tinkle tinkle of rain. Inside the trailer. Seems the roof now has more leaks than actual holes. Did I mention the $700 worth of fuel I *had* to get otherwise my carrier will remove my account. But did I mention the furnace won't stay lit? No $$ to fix the roof right now, and my handyman is off finding himself. Wasn't aware he was lost, but there you are. Maybe he'll find Jesus too. I heard he's been missing a while. So, I'll keep putting buckets under the leaks, and running the radiant heaters. Meanwhile I have some terrible looking sheets dividing the push out and the main trailer. Looks like a really awful looking Purdah. Oh well. Things will get worse.

She’d been stoned fifteen of her eighteen years and the story was widely told

So a note gets sent to San Rafael, “For the Championship of the World
The Kid demands a smoke off!” "Well, bring him on!" says Pearl,

So they rent out Yankee Stadium and the word is quickly spread

And the Calistoga Kid, he sneers, and Pearly, she just grins.
And the drums roll low and the crowd yells “GO!” and the world’s first Smoke Off begins.

Kid flicks his magic fingers once and ZAP! that first joint’s rolled.
Pearl takes one drag with her mighty lungs and WOOSH! that roach is cold.
Then The Kid he rolls his Super Bomb that’d paralyze a moose.
And Pearley takes one super hit and SLURP! that bomb’ defused.
Then he rolls three in just ten seconds and she smokes 'em up in nine,
And everybody sits back and says, "This just might take some time."
See the blur of flyin’ fingers, see the red coal burnin’ bright
As the night turns into mornin’ and the mornin’ fades to night
And the autumn turns to summer and a whole damn year is gone
But the two still sit on that roach-filled stage, smokin' and rollin' on
With tremblin’ hands he rolls his jays with fingers blue and stiff
She coughs and stares with bloodshot gaze, and puffs through blistered lips.

Re-Ment and other bragging

As many know, I have a Japanese BJD who is known as Maud. I've wanted a house for her since I got her, and she will get one. Meanwhile I've bought different pieces of Re-Ment for her. My latest is this divine set. I have all the pieces coming, and all for around $12 with free shipping.

I also managed to grab a set of PP. I grabbed 6 pieces (all but one with boxes) for around $40. Thats not coming until next month though. I'm darn near giddy over it.

I also received my Chrysnbon stove today.

I sort of debated between the parlor stove, and the cook stove, and decided on this one for the Victorian cottage. I've decided it is to be a period accurate home of around 1860 of a woman waiting for her soldier husband to return home. I figured I loved the rocker, and I can add some simple "cast iron" pans in a couple weeks.

Anyone know where to get Chrysnbon wholesale though? I really could be saving so much more money here....

I had one of my usual, perennial dilemmas. I've been slowly yet surely building up my collection of doll and sewing books. My doll books I'm getting rather vain about. I added a library to the trailer in the push out section, and while its not done yet, I take a lot of time sorting books and making sure they are clean and not getting damaged.

So the dilemma, was that I recently bought a nice cache of doll books, including two dollhouse books (my favorite doll sub-subject) but also including two books I had, one that doubles in its part as one of the wonderful Antonia Fraser's books. I have both her book on the history of toys (a must if you are in reenacting of any kind) and the doll book was the one I'd gotten again along but a great book for 1/6 scale dollshouses. I couldn't decide if I should send the books off to one of my "nieces" (daughters of friends that either have no mean Auntie determined that they have dolls) or my actual niece. But, my blood related niece is, I'm sorry to say, is pretty darn destructive. And, I can't count on my sister being able to protect the books from her. So, they'll go into a box and I'll store them. She'll outgrow this destructive phase (hopefully) and when she's a year or two older, I think she'll appreciate being able to read them, much less own them.

One of the books I got in this pile was the book written by Colleen Moore about her own dollhouse. It's now a museum piece (and was when she donated it to them) and the thing not only has electric, but running water! And of course this made my little brain work overtime debating if I can get running water into Maud's 1/6 scale dollhouse using pumps and fish tank tubing. (Moore's Castle has metal pipes and distilled water is used). I'm not sure Maud would be down with this idea, after all she doesn't wash dishes, has been demanding a dishwasher and although she thinks a hot tub might be pretty freaking sweet she doesn't appear interested in the idea. Damn dolls. Give them an inch, they want a condo. By the way, anyone want to tackle building a 1/6 scale hot tub with real water?

The other recent transfusion of book involved Dover, and one of them, a book on American Civil War uniforms was snatched from my paws by a drooling dear little psychopath of a history teacher. Needless to say, I didn't really get to read much although on the bus to school before he saw it, I'd been smart enough to seriously peruse it.

The others were normal (for me anyhow) a book on circa 1890 clothing, one on Early American clothing, another dollhouse book and more history books. I love Dover. Oh, and History of Underclothes. Another must for re-enactors. Covers SCA era on up to about the 1920's. And although it covers some French and American stuff, I need to say it is flat out English underclothing and not much else.
