So on my birthday some friends and I went to the big apple for some shopping fun and cake from Amy's Bread at Chelsea Market. Two of my friends and myself were in Lolita and Aristocrat and the girls even had matching outfits(I swear that wasn't planned lol) so I thought I'd share some photos that another one of our friend's took ^^

A friend of mine sent me this link, entitled "Are You a Lolita?"
It includes mainstream fashion designers attempts at making lolita-inspired clothing. I found it pretty amusing because not one of the outfits looked even remotely lolita to me.
Judge for yourself.

Hello! I've been a follower/lurker in this community for quite some time. I would really like to create my own bento but I don't know where to begin really. So I have some questions if anyone could please assist me?
1. Where can I buy bento boxes/supplies?
2. Is there a certain kind of food to use in bentos?
3. How would I keep something hot?
4. Is it expensive to do everyday?
5. Are there any tutorials on-line I can look at?
Thank you for your time. ^_^

*waves hi to everyone*
Probably not. Although if you try to take away my cheese, I will cut you.
THE CHEESE IS MINE.
Does anyone have any egg shapers? And if so, how do they work? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly shape my boiled eggs... they always crumble. I have better luck getting my rice to shape with these little presses. But I really would like to shape eggs for my bentos, too. Any clues?
I'm considering getting a petticoat I KNOW will be quite shorter than my favorite jsk. I'm sending it back to be changed to 21 inches (the "skirt" part of the jsk will be 21 inches), but I have the opportunity to change my mind if I do so quickly. The petticoat is 15 inches, the meta organdie one, and I want it so much I'm not changing my mind about it. But this is six whole inches shorter than my jsk D:
should I deal with it, or is this a fatal mistake I should save myself from while I have the chance? I have never worn a petticoat that had been that much shorter than my jsk, have any of you girls? and... will anna house be pissed if I send them an email to change it even though I just sent a confirmation one? xD;;

Could I have a napkin? I just geeked all over myself.

EDIT- Ok, found it! Thanks guys. I guess I did not look hard enough, it is in fact called The Green Book
Hello! I'm looking for a book that I read when I was around 12 years old, around 2000.
It's a story about kids living on a space ship traveling for many many years to some habitable planet. It focuses on one young girl, and I believe her sister or something? The main girl has brought with her a green book, which turns out to be a diary later on, and I think the book is presented as the contents of the diary. They arrive at the planet, and there are strange creatures and unbreakable trees, and the people have trouble growing food and stuff. I think it was short; under 200 pages.
The green book thing seems like it was very significant. I thought the title might have something to do with it but I can't find anything.
Thanks!

I've had customers ask me several times if I designed any clothing - naturally because my sewing skill are pretty atrocious, I always have to say no.
But I can say yes now, at least for a short time. I submitted some designs to ChicStar (a clothing manufacturer in China) who openly invite customers to send them suggestions. Currently I have two designs available, a coat and a dress:
Black jacquard coat

(it has a very full bottom so the model is holding the sides out)
Black velvet & lace 1930's influenced dress
(image lightened to show detail)
The process is simple - send them your drawing & description, it goes up for voting (anyone can vote), and if it gets enough positive votes they make sample for their online shop which people can then bid on. If it sells at a good price they may decide to put it into mass production. Currently the jacket sample is available at auction, however the it ends in mere hours so if you want to bid you'll have to act fast! The auction for the dress starts at midnight tonight and runs for a week.
In general the prices there are pretty cheap, but not because they're rock-bottom quality (I think it's more because there's no retail agent - you're buying direct from the factory). I own a velvet and lace jacket made by them and the quality is quite good. In the years I've owned the lace has never come unstitched nor the button fall off etc. Construction is quite sound and the sizing is very accurate to their chart. It fit beautifully! So I can only imagine that these garments will be just as nice. As the designer, I get a free sample of each in my size so when I receive them I'll be sure to post pictures!

Snow snow everywhere. We don't usually get all that much snow in winter here, but it's been three weeks straight with the stuff now. And it's still snowing. Quite unusual - but rather pretty. If only it would keep off the roads and railway tracks *L*
Well anyway I decided that the white rice in today's bento could double for snow, so I put mittens and a scarf on Froggie™ and sent him out to play ;)
- and below the cut is yesterday's lame excuse for a bento...

I've read the Plus Size Buying Guide already, but couldn't find information about Bodyline's newer items. It's been a while since I'd last gone to the BL site, but I was browsing it earlier today and noticed they appeared to have gotten rid of their "queen size" section, which saddened me because it was often the first placed I checked!
After doing some browsing at their new dresses and jsks, I noticed quite a few of them all include full-back or back-panel shirring. Says max measurements are usually around 96cm bust, and up to 76-80cm waist sizes, but I wanted to know from anyone's personal experiences would you say they stretched farther? Normally I just stick with what the sizes on the site say, but I DID order a Fruits Parlor replica OP from them that surprisingly stretched enough to fit my old figure. (38" bust, 36" waist) The max measurements listed for the dress were significantly smaller than that, though I don't remember exactly what they were at this point.
I know the fully-shirred dresses will fit a wide range of sizes, but those aren't what I'm querying about. Does anyone have pictures of them in a BL dress with full back shirring? (and would you mind sharing your measurements? lol)

today's lunch - more cute shapes!

my husband's lunch today.
on the left, more chicken nugget halves, chopped up fresh green beans, and shaped sweet rice w/furikake. on the right, a star-cut-out cheese, dried apricots, peanut butter-filled celery w/carrot stars and 3 raspberries. I don't like having so much of the bottom showing through, but didn't want to just line it w/lettuce for lettuce's sake...

my lunch today.
another "face" on the left, w/the same ingredients as above, and on the right, more carrot stars, cucumber halves, asparagus, a rather large "baby" tomato, 2 laughing cow swiss cheese, and some raspberries.
I feel like lunches end up being roughly the same all week, for the most part, as I use up ingredients... :\ at least they're all cute, right?
I got some bigger veggie cutters that I need to use, too. hm, mebbe tomorrow, if there's anything left to cut!

Hello all you cheery bento-ers. I have a question for you.
I'm a college student who lives a 20-30 minute walk from campus. I get up early and am on campus all day without access to a fridge. I don't have the money to eat in the cafeteria every day and I'm really into making bento.
My question is, how can I keep food from going bad if it's with me all day? Also, what are your favorite bento items that don't need refrigeration?
Thank you for your help!
